Report of Finance Expert Series 2020-21, Session 3

To be adaptive during these trying times, the Finance forum, Department of Finance, ITM Business School, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai organized an Expert Lecture on the topic “Challenges and Opportunities in Investment Banking in Digital Era” for the PGDM Finance 2019-21 and 2020-22 Batch Students on 12th September 2020. It was a very informative and interactive session. The Speaker for the session was Mr. Arijeet Saha who is currently designated as the Fund Manager, JP Morgan Chase & Co., Bangalore. He is an esteemed ITM alumnus of PGDM Finance 2015-17 Batch.

Mr. Arijeet has over 4 years of diverse functional experience which includes research, fund management, and investment banking.

The guest lecture series aims to equip students with the latest theories and practices in the modern financial world. This guest lecture series will aim to pool the ideas of academicians and practitioners for enriching the students’ community.

He began the lecture by stating a quote “Don't wait for better Investment options, Invest and then wait for a better time.” – Ankit Samrat, followed by various other quotes by other famous authors. According to him if you want to pursue your career in Investment banking you have to first invest in yourself.

The speaker stressed clear directions that the students must have strong knowledge about the industry like investment banking involves a lot of research and hard work, Primary sets of investment banking, which are very important.

He also informed the students about the various career opportunities in Investment Banking for finance graduates in the fields of Research, Fund allocation, Asset Valuation, Equity valuation. Further, he also elucidated about various career opportunities in JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, etc.

After delivering his lecture he encouraged students to clear their doubts and clarified many doubts of the budding managers.

It was a very informative and interactive session where students came to know about the career choices in Investment Banking.

It was also a great initiative taken by the faculties of the Finance Forum for conducting this wonderful session of knowledge sharing and gaining virtually especially during this pandemic.
