REPORT OF GUEST LECTURE

‘The New Normal’ as we say a has connected us Virtually, the Finance forum, Department of Finance, ITM Business School, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “ Career Planning in BFSI” for the PGDM Finance 2020-22 batch & Finance 2019-2021 batch Students on 18th October 2020. It was a very informative and interactive session. The Guest Speaker for the session was Mr. Siddharth Pande who is currently working as South East Asia Lead in Mastercard for Commercial Payments - Mastercard Singapore.

He pursued his Graduation from South City College of Commerce and later pursued an MBA in Marketing from IISWBM (Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management) Calcutta University.

The guest lecture series aims to equip students with the latest theories and practices in the modern financial world. This guest lecture series will aim to pool the ideas of academicians and practitioners for enriching the students’ community.

The session started with a small introduction of the guest and the areas he has worked in especially his work with the Indian cricket team, he has even worked in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, he has spent much of his time in BFSI Industry.

The speaker stressed clear directions that the students must have strong knowledge about Balance sheets, he told students to focus on the quarterly reports of Banking Companies which would allow them an insight about the company and its operations. The speaker also talked about Traditional Banking and Digital Banking, how these two are different, and changes in Banking industry.

Mr. Pande has the experience and thorough knowledge of the BFSI Sector. He explained the major changes in the banking system, the idea which banks play in the economic cycle. He also discussed about the banks are using different channels to use digital transactions like UPI and how it has helped in building a digital economy. A brief discussion held during the QnA session about what MasterCard is doing in these changing environments, what policies are introduced by them and others.

The students were captivated by this session and delighted to meet Mr.Pande.

It was also a great initiative taken by the faculties of the Finance Forum for conducting this wonderful session of knowledge sharing and gaining virtually especially during this pandemic.

This wonderful session ended with enthusiasm and avidity.
