The Grand Finale Melange 5.0

Introduction

On 31st July, the Grand Finale was organised and successfully conducted by the TALEWIND team. 11 batches participated in the event. The event lasted for about 6 hours. It was an inter batch event where the students of batch 20-22 exhibited their teamwork and coordination.

The event was graced by Dr. Lakshmi Mohan, Director, Kharghar Campus who addressed the audience and gave them some valuable connotations of the important P’s in life and the event concluded with a motivational story shared by Dr. Saritprava Das, Dean Academics.

The chief guest for the event was Tanya Kathpal, Founder at Eat My news. She shared her own success story with the students and urged them to dream big and believe in it.

The Master of Ceremony were the students from the 19-21 batch, Ms. Mrinal Pandey and Ms. Vasudha Chaturvedi. Prof. Sankalp Srivastav and Prof. Uma Ghosh were the members of the jury who enthusiastically watched all the 11 performances and judged the event.

Background Melange, brainchild of the TALEWIND team is an event conducted during the foundation course to kick start the year and welcome the batch. At the same time, the main purpose behind the event is to bring the newly joined students together and foster the feeling of oneness and unity among them.

Melange 5.0This year the entire event was conducted online following the norm of Social distancing. The students were briefed about the competition on the very first day during the induction sessions by the TALEWIND faculties. There were a series of sub events that were incorporated to build the enthusiasm and the competitive spirit amongst the students.

Online Promotions – 21st July to 29th July The event was called “Metropolitan Extravaganza”. It was introduced to the students as an inter-batch competition. Each batch was given a metro city as the topic and students were asked to promote the city with the help of online promotions. Each day their posts were to be judged by the TALEWIND faculties and the leader board was published. The batches used the given hashtags and posted breath-taking images, collages, write ups, short videos and gifs each day. The winner batch for Online Promotions was the Philip Kotler Batch showcasing Mumbai.

Teaser Release – 24th July  The students were asked to release the teaser for the upcoming movie. A one-minute teaser, a prelude to the movie was uploaded by all the 11 batches on YouTube. The batches gave a tough competition to each other with mesmerising one-minute video about the city assigned to them. The prize for the Best Teaser was bagged by the Philip Kotler Batch showcasing Mumbai.

Behind the Scenes – 28th July  An informal event called ‘Behind the Scenes’ was organised to encourage the feeling of competition and build the excitement for the Finale. The students were asked to make a short movie of about 2-3 minutes exhibiting the story behind making the final movie. The TALEWIND faculties along with the students of the 11 batches participated and shared the story of their challenges and learnings too. The event was conducted on Zoom Meeting and hosted by Prof. Sadaf Tahir. The Grand Finale : 31st July The 15day saga came to an end on the day of Grand finale, 31st July at 10 am where each of the batches displayed a movie of 8-10 minutes duration. All the HODs and many of the faculties were present to cheer the students. The movie of each batch was initiated by 2 participants from the batch who gave a brief introduction of the city. It was an awesome experience to see the enthusiasm amongst the students as they looked and felt perfectly bonded now. The students had left no stones unturned and the coordination that was done was unbelievable as these students had never met before and were not acquainted to each other. After every performance (movie), the judges asked a few questions to the batchmates and gave the feedback to the respective batches.

A few senior students from the previous batches were invited to give the filler performances and interact with their juniors. Prof. Firoz delivered the vote of thanks. The winner batch for the Grand Finale was Sam Walton Batch for showcasing a movie on Kochi. The first runners up was the Philip Kotler Batch for Mumbai The second runners up was the Peter Drucker Batch for Delhi

Conclusion

We can say that once again students had left us speechless with their efforts and creativity and excellent coordination.
